  • Team Opportunity for All Students

    Funded Nov 4, 2019

    The items we received came over a period of a couple of days. I had to keep it from the athletes until all items were delivered. When everything arrived at my office I brought the players into my office to open the boxes to reveal the uniforms, soccer balls, and goalie shirts.

    The players were amazed at the items we recieved.

    Most of my team had never been a part of a team and have never wore a team uniform and traveled to a game.

    It was exciting to see the students put the shirt on and get ready to travel to our first game wearing the shirts and looking like a team. When we arrived they excited the bus and were so prod to walk together and be a team. The first time we wore the shirts we beat the opposing team 4-3.

    We have since used the uniforms for the remainder of our soccer season. I want to thank all donors that made this possible for our athletes.

    Next up we have our volleyball and flag football seasons, and then on to basketball.”

Most of my 300 students have never played on a team or in any kind of competitive sports. I want to provide this opportunity for all students and am starting with a boys and a girls soccer team to play soccer against nearby schools' teams. Our school does not have a playground or grass, so I have organized soccer practices on Saturday mornings at a nearby park. We need basic equipment to start this soccer team. I bought the first set of jerseys, but there are not enough for everyone that wants to participate. We also need other soccer equipment such as goalie gloves and jerseys, soccer socks, and of course, soccer balls.

About my class
