Because our students are still learning from home in independent study, they are missing out on the rich, hands-on environment of the classroom. We 4/5th teachers wanted to provide our students with an educational, artistic, and enriching project that's traditional to California history - the California regions salt-and-flour relief map. This hands-on project appeals to all types of learners, but is especially good for the kinesthetic learners. Also, we independent study teachers are designing our own curriculum for 4th grade social studies, as the district-purchased program does not include California history. So, we know our students will learn about the diverse, interesting geography of their own state from this engaging project! We have already distributed the salt and flour mixture (from our personal funds) at the last materials exchange, but would love funding for the paint to complete this project. We have our next materials exchange, when we can give them these supplies. Thank you so much and we sincerely appreciate your support!
