  • Cosmic Art Coming to a Galaxy Near You!

    Funded May 1, 2024

Thank you so much for supporting our environmental education efforts at Wakanda Elementary. The 5th Grade Camp-out is a time-honored tradition for us and we were ecstatic to bring it back to our Elementary Seniors last spring after a long hiatus due to COVID. Your support of our Cosmic Art Experience was set to be a highlight for most of our campers. Mother Nature had other plans for us, however! When we transitioned to "Plan B" the kids were pumped! We conducted our camp-out back at school. Cosmic Art allows each artist a 100% chance of being successful! The Night Sky never looked so beautiful as it does through the eyes of a child. Thank you for those moments that they will never forget!

This fall your generous gift was used again at Wakanda by our amazing school counselor, Mr. Bailey Roux to create a "Peace Path" on our playground. The Peace Path will allow our Wakanda Stars the chance to own and solve their problems using the steps Mr. Roux has laid out for them. Thank you for being such an awesome community partner! We greatly appreciate your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hasse

  • 3-M 5th Grade STEM Event

    Funded Oct 14, 2016

The 5th Grade STEM Event at 3-M in Menomonie was a rousing success for all ~ students and teachers alike. The hands-on nature of the twelve stations intrigued, challenged, and stimulated great thinking in the 5th grade scientists that attended. There were many school districts represented at the event which was very fun to see. A highlight for the students was the creation of their own lava lamp. Students also enjoyed hearing first hand how the engineers seek out problems to solve in the field and then find innovative ways to solve them. We heard over and over that innovation means failing forward ~ a great message for our students to hear as they make their way to the Menomonie Middle School next year. The trip really jump-started great STEM thinking in our students who were then able to apply principles learned at 3-M to their work back in the classroom. Problems seemed to take on new meaning after our experiences at 3-M. Thank you so much for funding this opportunity to learn from the best at the 2017 5th Grade STEM Event!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hasse

  • Calling All National Park Rangers!

    Funded May 6, 2011

Thank you so much for contributing to our "Calling All Park Rangers!" National Park Ranger Project! The project is in full swing and the additional materials you provided the students is making all the difference in the world! We are using a research model called The Big Six to guide us in our research! The high-quality materials you donated to our room make this process seamless for our students to gain the knowledge they need to proceed to the next level of the project! Students enjoy the variety and breadth of the resources now available to them! There is a certain amount of luxury in having more than five copies of the "best" resources we are finding! Kids can to our National Park Resource Station in our classroom and make their own choices regarding the best sources for their particular park! Thank you for being a vital contributor to the success of our 5th Grade National Park Rangers! ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hasse

We are in the business of educating all kids to high levels of learning! We reinforce the social as well as the academic curriculum in an elementary school classroom. Our classrooms are not governed by rules but by a set of guidelines known to our students as “Our C.A.R.E.S.” Our C stands for cooperation. The students know that every community needs to cooperate to achieve its fullest potential. The A stands for assertion. Our students define this word by asking for what we need. The R is for responsibility. Each individual is responsible for taking care of his/her individual jobs and not leaving it to someone else. The E reminds us to show empathy for our fellow citizens of the earth. And last, but certainly not least, is our S that guides us on our path of self-control. We live by these words day in and day out in our fifth grade learning community.
