  • Stocking our Hygiene and Snack Pantry

    Funded Aug 31, 2023

A very special thank you to all the donors who contributed to my Donors Choose request! Our students (5th -12th) come from inner city homes and are often in needs of basic hygiene items during the school day. These donations helped us stock our pantry with supplies allowing the staff to provided needed soap, deodorant, lotion and feminine products as needed. Plus, you helped stock our food pantry for students that might need a snack during the school day or a couple of food items to send home for the evening or weekend!

Thank you for helping us take care of our students' basic needs! We appreciate your willingness to support our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hinchey

  • Math Lab Matters!

    Funded Nov 5, 2022

Donors Choose is making an impact on our schools and students. Thank you for your generosity and willingness to improve schools and educational outcomes in our community! Can’t wait to share these items with my students! These project and supply grants are so appreciated! Thank you again for this opportunity to get items that we would not be able to purchase for our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hinchey

  • Learning Today Requires Flexibility

    Funded Feb 7, 2022

Donors Choose has transformed my small, windowless room into an inviting and simulating environment for my students. Books, well you can never have enough inspiring stories to read and share at school! Many of the titles encourage our students to feel great about their own life journey. Our alternative education students have often been exposed to much trauma and abuse so reading about success with struggles is important.

The addition of several flexible seating options not only make the classroom feel inviting but helps those kids who need constant movement to concentrate and relax. This options give the students choices and they feel empowered, even when it as simple as a unique flexible seat! As the pictures show- a colorful, well designed, student friendly classroom makes a huge difference! Improving academics takes resources, quality teaching, hands on activities and a creative environment. Thank you for donations, my students feel loved and cared for every day.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hinchey

This classroom project was brought to life by Panda Cares and one other donor.
  • Making Leaders Out of Readers

    Funded Apr 8, 2022

My students are loving the brand new beautiful books provided by generous donors. I selected a wide variety of topics to support diverse interests and reading levels. Many of the books support our ongoing Social Emotional Learning, (SEL) curriculum. These books are just another tool to share SEL lessons and concepts but in a non threating manner.

Donors Choose boxes are always exciting when they land in a classroom! The students enjoy unpacking and examining each and every item. It is important that they know these books and resources are for them to read, share and even take home.

Building a classroom library supports our school vision of creating interest in reading and especially reading outside the classroom for fun! Middle School students enjoy having a book read to them and these hardcover, colorful and engaging stories are perfect for reading aloud! Making Leaders out of Readers is my mantra- helping them understand the importance of reading and lifelong learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hinchey

  • Celebrating Our Diversity

    Funded Nov 22, 2021

Donors Choose brings Christmas to the classroom for our students! I make sure that my students help me open the boxes and help organize our new items. The notebooks were used as Journals and in Math classes that I co-teach in with a coworker. The spirals allow students their own private time to write, draw and reflect.

The "Colors of the World -Multicultural "markers and colored pencils helps everyone feel included.

Remember the smell and feel of a new book? Donors Choose allowed me to purchase lots of books to support our Social Emotional learning and Group time with our Social Worker. They will be used by a variety of students for many years.

Additional supplies for teaching (paper, folders, pencils, etc ) with brightly colored organizational containers and baskets provide for a student centered learning environment! Students can take pride in our environment and readily get a ruler, calculator, colored map pencils, highlighters, number lines or math manipulatives, encouraging them to take more responsibility in their education in our learning lab.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hinchey

    Funded Dec 4, 2019

A special thank you to all the donors who funded my classroom supplies and Special Education resources! I so appreciate DonorsChoose and their commitment to education and especially the needs of students in our classrooms!

I look forward to unpacking these new classroom resources with my students- they will feel special knowing that others care about them and their education.”

These materials and supplies that I am requesting will help organize and support small group, activity based learning with Special Education students. Due to space constraints, our classroom is quite small so organization is essential to promote the optimal learning atmosphere for a wide variety of student ages and abilities. Creating an environment that simulates learning along with hands-on materials is essential! A Special Education resource classroom needs to be engaging ( maps, globes, wipe & write boards, book bins) and one that inspires my students to ask questions and find a love for lifelong learning. We also need basic supplies, ( folders, colored pencils/ paper, calculators) to support the learning process. I want to have all the educational resources at their fingertips so they feel empowered and motivated to learn even when it is difficult. I want my students to feel that they have every educational advantage available to overcome their life and academic challenges!
