  • Interactive Communication Materials

    Thank you for your donations. I was able to purchase additional sensory tools. More lamination and Velcro. The students are enjoying their interactive work and books at their level they can read along side their peers.

    I am able to quickly create materials for the team of 8 other special education teachers quickly. The students can use multi sensory learning and are learning concepts quicker then they were able to do with paper pencil activities.

  • Visual Learning and Communication Library

    Thank you very much for your donations. We have created over twenty adapted books for students to read and demonstrate comprehension of these stories. Students are now able to read books that are related to the subject being taught in the general education classroom at their level. They are able to contribute to the classroom discussions and participate nonverbally with the pictures. The materials look professional, are durable and reusable for many students saving time for teachers to plan and teach more effectively.”

All students should have the tools needed to communicate with peers and teachers. Students who are not yet able to communicate verbally need a wide range of visual learning opportunities. This project will provide the tools to create a communication and visual library for students who are not yet able to verbally communicate their wants and needs but also provide multi-sensory learning and demonstration of their knowledge. This project will aid in creating the necessary components of the modified curriculum for the students who will benefit from the new curriculum. Using a coil machine will allow the materials stay together and look professional. The school has a binding machine, however, once you turn the page too far, the pages comes out of the book. Using a coil machine will allow the books to stay together and reduce the time spent putting the books back together for the students. Having a lamination machine to quickly laminate small pieces allows the pieces to be created quickly in the classroom, instead of waiting for the school laminator to be ready for enough items to be laminated to reduce waste. When creating picture and visual libraries for students, lamination and velcro are essential to creating pieces that will last. To keep track of all of the little pieces, organization is essential. When a project can begin with organization, it will last longer and be efficient to use. The materials requested will create all materials needed and organize them to be used for many students easily.
