Interactive Classroom Project: Help Fund Our SMART Board!

Funded Oct 18, 2019

Thank you so much for your donation to my Interactive Classroom Project: SMART Board back in October of 2019. It's been a while since you've heard of our progress with the projector, so here is an update.

We received the materials within a month's time of the completion of the fundraiser. However, we were met with difficulties. Unfortunately, the setup of the projector would not be an easy task and required some school funding to do so. We were not able to use our projector for months! Sadly, it sat in the corner of our classroom until March.

With a lot of persistence, the principal and I were finally able to secure some funding to install our new technology after 5 months of waiting. And it was definitely worth the wait. The Epson Brightlink Projector had so many advanced capabilities that I could never have imagined--screen mirroring, wireless connection, sound and video, and of course no cords for the kids to trip on! I began planning right away for the every lesson to be embedded with technology. I wanted it to become a staple for my students in the classroom.

The next day, my students walked in and were "wowed" by the new technology they helped work for. They were very excited to have the opportunity to learn with it. I have never seen so much desire to participate before! Even my students who are considered quiet English Language Learners were adamant to raise their hands. We used it during morning meeting, reading, and math. They especially enjoyed using it during math, because they were able to sort polygons into different categories right on the board.

The students said their goodbyes later that afternoon and were dismissed to go home. Unfortunately, due to the "Stay-at-Home" order issued that evening, that was the first and last day they were able to use their new technology.

Although use of the projector was short-lived, it will definitely not go to waste. Something my students were excited about initially was that they would be able to secure a projector for the classroom as a gift to every student who comes after them. I will honor that to the very end. Many students will come and go after them. Your donation has not only helped a classroom of 24 wonderful kids, but will help hundreds of children after them as long as I teach :) As summer break approaches, I will use that time wisely to plan our lessons and integrating technology.

Thanks again for your support. I wish you all a safe and healthy summer!”

With gratitude,

Ms. Moua
