By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve the classroom environment, you will ultimately help to close the achievement gap. My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given text that can allow them to think farther than their own city. Literary and informational text is an area of focus for my students. These articles will help my students to build their reading stamina which will further assist them to become fluent readers and develop a love for reading. Many of my students do not have access to obtain articles or text that they are actually interested in. Finding a resource that provides students an opportunity to have access to rich text will benefit them and set them up for a future of enjoyable leisurely reading.
