These resources will help my students become more independent learners through small groups. Phonemic Awareness and foundational skills are essential in building strong readers. Due to COVID, our already limited classroom resources are even further depleted as these materials must sit and be sanitized between each student group. These materials will allow students to engage in independent and parallel play. Currently, my students use individual containers of play dough to practice letters and word building. The play dough tools listed in my cart will allow students to cut and form dough in other ways to help with letter formation. In addition, students will be allowed to engage in parallel play and have meaningful conversations about their method of letter formation through dough. Studies have shown that if students can become strong readers by third grade, they are more likely to complete their educational career. Students will be addressing multiple Nevada Academic Content Standards including RF.K.3 which applies to word analysis skills in decoding words at grade-level.
