High School Laboratory Preschool
Funded Nov 23, 2021Center Time is so much fun! The preschoolers love dressing up with their career costumes and just pretend! My student teachers found the career costumes helpful when planning activities for career day. In addition, our unit on community helpers was much better than last year's, thanks to those costumes.
The student teachers needed to be reminded that the costumes were for the preschoolers. The preschoolers came in that morning and saw the costumes and became excited to play pretend.
Our next project will be to use the costumes in "mini" play, where each child will portray a community helper. The student teachers feel this will be a fun way for each child to describe in their own words what the career of choice does.”

Baby Stings Explore Science!
Funded Oct 9, 2019I cannot begin to tell you how excited the students were when they saw the exploration table set up in the room. They were amazed. Curiosity quickly kicked in. I showed them the different learning tools that came with the table. I taught them what they were called and what they were used for.
Soon after I began to incorporate hands on learning with the science table. For example, on one of our trips to the garden they took the magnifying classes and jars and looked closely at the leaves and lizards. We were able to place a few lizards in the jars provided with the table so the children can look at them closely. They had a hard time understanding that the lizards had to be set free. They wanted to keep them.
The students have been using the new resources to experiment with different ideas. They have learned that water and oil do not mix. They have seen how adding food coloring gives water color. They loved using the magnifying glasses to look tiny items. They were able to see individual grains of rice, salt, and sugar. We will continue to use the table and materials to encourage a love of science in our students.”
