The power of mathematics can be shared with students by playing games! Public school classrooms, including mine, are filled with a variety of diverse learners with many different needs. Blockus, Gobblet!, Set, Chess, and all the games on our wish list were specifically chosen because of the way they require students to think. These games are accessible to students at any ability level, allowing all access to deep thinking. The more students play these games together, the more challening and complex they become! This creates a "low floor, high ceiling" learning experience that continuously promptes anlyitical and critical thinking, perseverence, team work, and problem solving. Donating to our project will help my students learn how to think deeply and develop a love for mathematics! Through game play, students will look for patterns, build spatial awareness, learn to make multiple attempts when solving problems, and collaborate with their peers. Students are then able to transfer these skills to all other areas of learning and peer interaction throughout the day.
