In the central valley, we are one of the biggest producers of the Ag industry, including raisins, cows, and other produce. With the continuing rise of the human population, it is important to be able to feed this increasing population. In my class, students will grow plants in the soil and again in the aquaponic take to see how plants can grow not just in soil, but in water as well! Students will become problem solvers and identify what are the essential nutrients that plants need to grow and where they can get them from. Students have tons of energy to keep them excited and ready to learn with hands-on projects, by having aquaponic tanks in my class students will not only learn an alternative way to grow plants but can also take ownership of their learning and responsibility for taking care of something such as feeding the fish. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve student attention and focus, but you will ultimately help increase their academic achievement. Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not whether their materials are going to work or not. With the increase of the human population and cutting down on farmland, it is important to know that not all hope is lost and there are multiple ways of growing food with space we already have.
