STEM building not only engages students immediately, but improves their critical thinking and problem solving skills. They can be creative in multiple different ways by combining materials with these, or only using the magnets and blocks. The amazing thing about my class is that they all get to walk in the classroom in the morning and immediately start on a STEM bin of their choice with a small group. This first 15 minutes of the day has truly brought life to my classroom and its community. My students deserve this time of building together for the sake of community, creativity, and collaboration. Students that used to be late to school are now starting to arrive on time for school because they love this time and start to our day so much! I am a first year teacher, so I cannot give them as many different options in the mornings as I would like. We would be so grateful for a donor to help improve our morning routine. Kids gather and talk about what they're building, and this leads into conversations with each other about what they're learning, what their favorite things are, or what they did over the weekend. My students have truly grown to love and lean on each other, and I have these morning bins to thank for that. We also use the STEM bins with task cards and projects throughout the year to incorporate engineering and designing, as well as integrate science and math with other subject areas. Students will be growing socially and academically with your help. If we got this, it would also be an incredible opportunity to show my students that money is not what life is all about- it's about our community and how people treat each other. Thank you!
