My students need to be well versed in the possible jobs they could have in the Art world. So we are planning an architectural project. The students will be working in groups of 4-5. They will sketch out their dream house in color in their sketchbooks. They must sketch out the front, back, top and sides of the house. They will then use cardboard that I am hoping to have donated by a local Walmart to build the large house. They will use the Popsicle sticks, hot glue gun and glue sticks to create and build the house. They will then paint their sketches on the actual finished cardboard house. I have found that students are more interested and their creative sides come out much more when they are working in groups and using their hands to make things. Everyone is not great at drawing; however, this gives those students the opportunity to work and make things with their hands instead of relying on drawing all the time. I know my students will really enjoy this project and I am super excited to watch and assist them with it!
