I work in a title one school where many students come home to an empty home. Due to this there are many times they do not want to go straight home, I am working to be able to provide them a safe place where they can have fun with fellow classmates. I have looked in to many different board/card games along with their educational value and feel that even though these students are having fun they are also learning and improving on different skills, such as spelling/vocabulary, being able to create and test a hypotheses and cognitive abilities. Many of these games also involve rich social interactions as well as deductive powers to arrive at a correct answer. I have also included snacks as many families are low income and while my students are with me I would love to be able to provide a little something extra for them.
