  • Books for First-Grade-Ready Readers!

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our donors. Your support has not only enriched our classroom but has also ignited a love of reading in our students. We are especially touched by the enthusiasm of Lilian and Angel, whose affection for the books inspired them to share the joy of reading with their siblings.

These new texts provide practice with a variety of skills, such as critical thinking, empathy, and problem-solving. Through these stories, our students are learning to analyze characters, plot, and themes, as well as to make connections between the text and their own lives.

We also incorporate a variety of reading strategies, such as predicting, questioning, and summarizing. Marcelino reads all the time now and even started writing his own stories inspired by the characters. These new books have not only expanded our students' horizons but have also fostered a love of reading that will last a lifetime.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Carr

  • All About Aviation and Airplanes

    Funded Oct 31, 2024

Wow! Our students will be so excited to learn about airplanes and the career of aviation! I'm thinking the LEGO set will be for indoor recess or as an incentive for good grades and behavior. The rewards, books, and classroom bulletin board decor will "spice" up our challenging curriculum and build in treats to keep learning fun. Thank you SO MUCH for helping us get to our goal!”

  • Chess for Financial Literacy Success

    Funded Sep 22, 2024

How exciting that our students will be able to begin practicing their chess strategies and skills in a few short weeks!

I'm hoping our team can be a shining example of what all students at Gregory-Lincoln are capable of and can show up and show out at competitions while exhibiting grace, team skills, and school spirit. We could not have done it without you! Many many thanks!”

  • Afternoon Protein Packs a Punch

    Funded Mar 27, 2024

How surprising to see that my project was funded so randomly this morning! I can't wait to share all these healthy snacks with my afternoon tutorial groups. They will learn more and retain knowledge better with a little bit in their tummies; all thanks to YOU! We appreciate your generosity.”

  • Make and Sell for Financial Literacy

    Funded Sep 6, 2023

Thanks to the generosity of donors like yourselves, my kindergarten classroom has become a hub of financial literacy! We've been using the new resources to embark on a journey of discovery, learning about the value of money, saving, spending, and even giving back to the community.

The first day the materials arrived was a sight to behold. The brightly colored coins, piggy banks, and play money sparked immediate curiosity. Eyes widened and smiles erupted as children eagerly explored the newfound treasures. One student exclaimed, "We're going to learn about money? This is going to be so much fun!" Their enthusiasm was contagious, and I knew this project was off to a stellar start.

Currently, we're engrossed in a project called "The Lemonade Stand Challenge." Armed with play money, ingredients, and adorable miniature lemonade stands, students are learning the basics of running a business. They've calculated costs, set prices, and even experimented with advertising strategies. Witnessing their teamwork, negotiation skills, and entrepreneurial spirit bloom has been truly heartwarming.

But the journey doesn't end here! In the next phase, we'll explore the concept of saving and investing. Students will open "mock bank accounts" and track their earnings, learning the importance of budgeting and setting financial goals. We'll also discuss the concept of giving back, exploring ways to donate a portion of their earnings to a worthy cause, fostering a sense of social responsibility.

Thanks to your support, we're not just teaching financial literacy; we're shaping responsible, financially-aware young citizens. We'll continue to share our progress, and we're excited to see what future financial whizzes we can cultivate!”

  • Growing Our Learning by Growing Indoors

    Funded Dec 8, 2023

How exciting to have our project funded before Christmas! We're going to begin growing our little seedlings indoors after the break so they will be ready for soil planting as soon as the spring windows open! How awesome for our students to get hands on experiences with nurturing live plants to health and prosperity. Thank you for your generous donations!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Carr

  • Speaking and Listening Practice in One Device

    Funded Jul 5, 2023

I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for your generous contribution to my kindergarten classroom project to provide each student with a pair of headphones for their devices. Your kindness and support will have a profound impact on my students' learning and development.

Your generous gift will allow me to implement a more individualized approach to teaching, providing each student with the opportunity to learn at their own pace and in their own way. With headphones, students will be able to immerse themselves in their lessons without distractions, allowing them to absorb information more effectively and retain knowledge more readily.

I am truly honored to have your support.”

  • Digitally Creating Our Class Newsletter

    Funded Jun 15, 2023

My deepest gratitude for your donations, which have allowed my students to create a class newsletter and transformed their learning experience. The technology you provided has empowered them to become active participants, using interactive tools to design layouts, write articles, and take ownership of their work.

The access to a vast array of online resources has opened doors to further research and expanded their knowledge beyond the limitations of traditional textbooks. It has also facilitated collaboration and communication, allowing them to share their work, exchange feedback, and discover the power of teamwork.

The most exciting aspect for my students is showcasing their creativity to a wider audience through the digital format of the newsletter. This recognition has boosted their confidence and instilled a sense of purpose. Sarah, a previously quiet student, found her voice through writing and design, and is now actively engaged in class activities.

Your grant has ignited a passion for learning and transformed our classroom into a dynamic environment where students thrive. Thank you for your unwavering support and the profound impact you have made.”

  • Listening and Speaking to Learn

    Funded Sep 6, 2023

I cannot express the gratitude I have for donors such as yourselves who would support our classroom and its ability to provide a calm environment while working digitally. Not only will the headphones limit distractions while learning with devices, the microphones allow our youngsters to practice their newly acquired academic vocabulary. Thank you SO much for your support!”

Author's Chair, Show and Tell, student presentations, Teacher Table, Be-the-teacher; these are just some of the activities we conduct that allow students to take charge of their own learning and lead the group's learning themselves! Students need a microphone to be heard above the drone of the air conditioning (among other distractions nearby) and give them the confidence to lead their learning! Our students will thrive with a Kindle Fire tablet in their hands to look up information about age-appropriate subjects that interest them, with educational applications that track individual progress, allowing me the opportunity to teach to small groups.
