  • Empowering Literacy

    Thank you again for helping make my project a reality! My students have enjoyed being able to use the the phones and literacy kit. The phones have made a huge difference in their confidence while reading orally. I can see the excitement in their faces when I tell them to take a phone for reading groups.

    In addition I have been able to purchase wonderful resources for my students with the teachers pay teachers gift card. One of my favorite things I bought was a digital encoding activity that we are able to use daily. It has wonderful graphics and tools to help improve their spelling. I have seen such improvement in this skill”

  • Calm and Collected

    Funded May 20, 2024

    Thank you for your kindness and helping me fund this project. My students have enjoyed being able to use the calming items during center time and when in need.

    The students are able to use the fidget or calming items when they are feeling sad, lonely, overwhelmed, or even mad. They know they have a safe spot in the corner of the room that they can visit.

    When I set up the corner they were very excited to see all of the items. Some of them even commented that they have them at home.

    I also allow all of the students to use them on Fridays after we have taken all of our Reading tests. This gives them a change to unwind after focusing for an hour on test materials.

  • Storage For Our Center Pieces!

    Funded Jan 1, 2024

    The new storage bins and pull-out drawers have made centers way easier for me and them. I can label the drawers their group number and they can access what they need instead of me walking around saying do this one not that one. The bins have made the hands-on pieces easier to store and clean up. The clear lids allow me to quickly see what's in them and set-up in the am.

    When the materials first arrived, my students were unimpressed but once I got them set up and explained their purpose, they now love them and enjoy getting their own materials from their group drawer.

    Not all the bins have been used yet, but each week I find a need for one and set it up for a center activity for my students. They are working hard on letter sounds and building 3 letter words and having everything in a labeled bin makes these a smoother task to complete.

  • The Magic of the Whiteboard Experience

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

    When the white board first arrived, my students were very curious about the very large box that was in the back of the room. After I explained it to them, they were excited about it. During our Winter break the board was installed for their return to school. When they all returned, they were excited and ready to take their turns to write on it.

    The students get to come up during ELA and Math to show their skills. The number of hands that go up before I finish asking them 'who wants to come and ___?' is amazing! They enjoy themselves and getting to feel like the teacher.

    We will continue to use the white board to demonstrate our understanding of numbers and letters as the year continues. I hope to have volunteers that can write short words or sentences towards the end of the year or even students create their own addition/subtraction problems for all to solve.

  • Build, Mold, or Pop! Center Fun for Everyone!

    Funded Aug 3, 2023

    My students are loving the materials that were purchased thanks to your help! We are using the different manipulatives during our small group instruction time. The students have enjoyed being able to work with their peers while threading beads and counting 1-1, rolling dice to cover numbers on a mat, using play-doh to practice making their name, or even getting creative and building with the magnatiles. I think magnatile days are their favorite!

    We have been fortunate have these since the school year started so my students are unaware of centers without these awesome extras. This is the first year where my students are asking, "when is center time"?! They know that they will get to use a variety of the manipulatives to help them learn and are always excited. I am very grateful that my students were able to start off the school year with these and we didn't have to wait to incorporate them.

    Up next is creating a few more fun games with the larger dice. The larger dice have pockets which allow me to add pictures of letter or numbers for them to review with. They were unsure how to use them when I first pulled them out, so we have been practicing with the smaller ones.”

  • Focusing on Success

    Thank you again for your donation to my project! Being able to have a class set of headphones has made a huge impact on my students ability to focus. The students are able to log into their Chrome Books and work on any of the educational websites that are tied into our Reading and Math curriculum. These sites are used daily and are tailored to meet each students needs. While one student is working on letter sounds, some are identifying numbers, or even listening to a story and answering comprehension questions. The headphones allow the students to focus on the screen and not the various sounds from other computers.

    The students were extremely excited when I was able to provide them with the headphones. I have been able to set up a headphone station where the headphones are easily accessible for all. They know where theirs are located and use them when needed. I am truly grateful for these headphones!”
