Love to Write
Funded Aug 9, 2022Thank you so much for supporting my students and classroom. All the materials were used to help develop young writers and authors. My students loved the "magic boards". These were used to practice phonic skills and word patterns. At times, the boards were used to make descriptive sentences. Also, the special paper/journals were very helpful in helping my students manage their writing. My students are currently working on final drafts and publishing. They are truly enjoying the writing process. Thank you again for supporting us!!!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Bill Gates and 8 other donors.Alternative Flexible Seating
Funded Jan 31, 2019Thank you so much for donating all the supplies needed for our flexible seating classroom. Instead of traditional desks, we are now able to use a wide variety of seating options thanks to you. My student's seating options are now floor tables with lamps, stability balls, bean bag chairs, area rugs, floor desks, and topple seats. My students are now able to choose their own seat daily and work in a location that suits them best.
My students were so excited when we began receiving our flexible seating packages for our classroom. First, the boxes were so large my students were overwhelmed on what could possibly be in them. All of my students helped unpack the boxes and immediately tried out each piece. My students travel from different classrooms and were quick to say that now they are in the coolest room in the school.
I am very excited to be using this flexible seating in my classroom. I know it might seem a little different then most of us are used to, but I believe it will help each student be the best learner they can be. It allows for more interactive learning, get rid of wiggles, it is student-centered learning, helps with attention, motivates and encourages learning. Again, thank you for your support. All of this would not have been possible without your kindness and generosity.”

First Grade Traveling Scientists
Funded Dec 29, 2014Our school district cannot thank you enough for your support. Our first grade students were so excited when we received our packages in the mail. We all came together and opened the packages, to see the excitement on their faces was amazing. They asked many questions about the contents of each package. They were a bit unsure of how the specimens were alive in the boxes. We then began explaining the life cycles.
All of the resources received will allow our 120 first grade students to experience a true life cycle. Each class selected a specific life cycle to research as a grade level. They became experts on that life cycle. Their job was then to travel around to the other first grade classes and learn from each other about all the life cycles.
Our project "The Traveling Scientists" allowed students to become fully engaged and take ownership of what they are learning. All students became more responsible because they were in charge of a living creature. It allowed students to build up their confidence by presenting learned information to their classmates. This project was truly a life long learning experience that will stay with our students forever!!”
