Tech for Success!
Funded Aug 17, 2021We are so thankful for your contributions, that have made learning easy and accessible. Students are able to use the tablets provided to type written assignments. Several students in my class have deficits in decoding and spelling. Utilizing the voice command on the tablet allows students to verbally communicate a response and use apps to edit.
The most exciting tool the students enjoy are the game apps. They love being able to play games on the tablets for reward purposes as assignments are completed. When tablets were first passed out students were allowed to choose a game of their choice. I use this as a form of motivation to help students persevere through difficult assignments.
My sole purpose for purchasing these tablets were to meet the communication needs of many of my students. Our class is so diverse. I wanted all of my students to have an equal opportunity to engage in the learning environment. These tablets have been beneficial to all of my students, but in particular those who have limited verbal abilities. They have become so fluent in their ability to express their needs using the tablets. It is truly a win for us all.”

Funded Nov 6, 2019Your donations towards our UNIQUE classroom has been greatly appreciated. The main focus of this project was to help students become more independent in their learning. The materials that were chosen were used to create fun centers; where students would be able to achieve academic success and have fun while doing it. As a result I've been able to set up literacy centers using the listening center and phonemic awareness bundle.Their favorite items were the flexible seating. Before, students would get a break in between lessons to give them an opportunity to walk around or rock in the available rocking chairs. Now, when students are given a break they usually stay at the table and bounce or wiggle around. This has increased student's instructional time drastically!
When the materials arrived the students were so excited. They wanted to know what was in all the boxes. We unwrapped the boxes together and began setting up items in the classroom. I laid all the items on the table and they began exploring. As students stood around the table all I could hear is oohs and aahhs.
I will continue to strive for student independence. Ensuring students have materials that are engaging and enhance their learning experience. I have not yet started math centers, due to the various grade level gaps and timing. However, I am looking forward to creating a more consistent schedule where students can have opportunities to continue to increase their independence in all aspects of learning.”
