The materials I am requesting will help my students be able to see more visuals for better understanding while learning. Since my students are all 100% ELL, the best way for them to learn is by seeing pictures of having hands-on visuals. Biology itself is a difficult language, and I am confident that with these supplies, I will be able to have my students learn better. For example, while going over the human body, they are familiar with organs of the body in their language, but when I discuss the parts of the body in English, they can follow along with me as I point and demonstrate the organs or body systems I am discussing. Another example is the Twizzlers I am requesting. By using the Twizzlers and mini marshmallows, the students can create their own version of a DNA double helix and be able to identify the different bases and types of base pairings.
