STEM, Rain or Shine
Funded Nov 8, 2023Thank you again for your generosity! Your kindness has made a huge impact in my classroom.
My students screamed with curiosity and excitement when I opened up our packages.
The new stools have helped my student move around easily to collaborate with their classmates, especially during STEM challenges. They all want to sit on them, so I hope to get more in the future!
These materials came in handy during our recent storm. The kids loved playing with the blocks and games. It allowed them to be creative and work together as a team. My kids had a blast during indoor recess.
All of this would not have been possible without your support! Thank you so much!”

Funded Oct 11, 2023Thank you so much for your generosity! The students were so excited when they saw all our new seating options that we have thanks to you! The room was filled with oohs and ahhs. The kids love using the new seats. In fact, they beg to use them as often as they can. They are in such high demand that we had to create a schedule so that everyone can get a chance to use them.
As I hoped, the kids have been very responsible when using our wobble cushions, stools, and floor seats. They are always focused on their work when they use these new seats. I can see that many of them get the activity and motion that they need when they are using the stools. This helps them stay focused on their assignments and lessons for longer.
I can already see how much these seats have positively impacted my classroom. In the future, I'd like to get more seats so that more students can use the special seats at once.”

Funded Dec 30, 2020Thank you again for your generous donations! Engaging students during distance learning has been a huge challenge, but your donation helped solve this problem!
Students were thrilled to receive all the materials you kindly donated to them when they picked up their materials from school. Many did not have access to items like popsicle sticks and paint and were excited to use them for school and for their own creations.
In 5th grade, we learned about the Boston Tea Party. Students used the materials you donated in order to solve the STEAM challenge: create a floating tea crate to keep a tea bag dry. The students loved using different materials to create their crates and they enjoyed testing their crate in water. Thanks to you, we had a great lesson on social studies, science, and engineering! We also used the watercolors to create 3D-perspective paintings. The students enjoyed creating their own cities and adding their own details to their artwork. Students even had extra materials that they could use to continue creating over the summer. Thank you for bringing curiosity and joy into our classroom, both in-person and virtually!”

Funded Aug 12, 2020Thank you again for your generous donation to my students. This year has been challenging due to being 100% virtual since the start of the year. Your kind donation allow us to access Scholastic News articles, both in print and digitally.
Due to distance learning, reading instruction looks a little different this year. During our first semester, students were sent home with 2-4 issues of the magazine at a time. The issues are so interesting that I had students reading them on their own, before we read them as a class! The digital option allowed me to play the videos that were included, which captivated my students and sparked rich discussions. The Scholastic News articles were so engaging that more students volunteered to read over Zoom than with any other lesson/reading passage.
All of my students are enjoying these articles. They are much more engaging than our curriculum. My students also enjoy them because they are current and relevant to their lives. The were excited to read about Bellen Woodward and her More Than Peach Project, where she created crayon packs with all skin tones. My students could relate to her story and were inspired by how someone their age has helped create a more inclusive world. We have had debates about whether or not pets should be cloned. We've learned about the presidential election and our new leaders. We've learned about the hardships that Pilgrims faced and the harsh treatment the Wampanoag Nation faced even after helping the colonists. We've learned and written about Dr. King's impact on our world. We have learned all of this thanks to you and we look forward to reading more!
Some of my students read the articles on their own and send me message about the fun things they learned. This had made a huge difference in engaging students in online learning and in inspiring the kids to read nonfiction texts about the things they are curious about. As a teacher, this wonderful resource has helped me teach reading and writing standards in a fun and engaging way. The digital resources have been a lifesaver! Your generosity has made a huge difference in our virtual classroom this year!”
