Students are much more engaged when they read topics that interest them. The Allons-y and Bonjour magazines do a great job of featuring articles written with teenagers in mind. Topics include fashion, celebrities, music, holidays, food, and sports, just to name a few. While the articles are in French, they include vocabulary and grammar that is designed for beginner and intermediate learners. Not only will the magazines help the students improve their reading skills, but they can also read the articles aloud to improve their pronunciation. After reading the articles, students can practice their writing skills by answering comprehension questions in French or even writing a short reflection or follow-up comments in French.
