New & Improved Speech Room!
Funded Sep 8, 2023Thank you all so much for your contributions to fund this project for my students and our therapy room! They were so excited when they saw the materials and we have been using them in our therapy room ever since the project was funded. The Melissa & Doug Hop Scotch rug has been a hit and a great movement break for so many students in our therapy room. It has helped with balance, number counting, and color recognition. The new white board has been used countless times and is easily accessible throughout our therapy space. The vacuum, broom & dust pan, and bulletin board paper have helped to keep our space clean as well as beautify the room to create a warm and clean therapy environment! Thank you once again for helping to make this 2023-2024 school year an amazing one :)”

Unlocking Our Full Potential in Ms.K's Speech Room!
Funded Dec 3, 2019Thank you once again for your support to help bring this project to life. Words can not express the gratitude my students and I feel as well as how much we appreciate your kind donations. My students and overall caseload present with various speech and/or language difficulties related to articulation of speech sounds, cleft palate, dyslexia, autism, selective mutism, and language difficulties. The use of technology has allowed me to use Evidence-Based programs related to language, reading and articulation to help my students progress and meet their goals as well as provide an incentive and motivation to participate and remain engaged. The use of the iPads allow my students to engage in multi-sensory learning to increase both their receptive and expressive language abilities as well as meet their goals that are aligned with the Common Core Standards.
My students who struggle with vocabulary are able to access visuals on the iPad to grasp the meaning of novel and unfamiliar words. Others who are unintelligible due to speech sound concerns are able to use fun and engaging apps to target speech productions. Children with autism are able to use social stories and scripts to support their social skills and pragmatic language. Additionally, my students who struggle with reading comprehension and abstract reasoning are able to view short animated films as a means to introduce and work on complex comprehension tasks before transitioning to print-based passages.
Aside from the engagement and progression of my student's goals, the addition of this technology into my classroom has brought countless smiles and excitement to my students. I can't wait to continue using technology in my classroom and learning new ways to bring it to life in my speech and language therapy sessions.”
