Help Us Learn With Color!
Funded Sep 11, 2023Thanks to the ink cartridges you helped fund, our students can now see their visuals in color. Visuals are essential for young learners, especially those on the spectrum. Students are more drawn to them thanks to the details that pop out. We created individual schedules, social stories, icons, and core communication boards.
A favorite for students is the social stories because they get to learn new skills, such as using their words to obtain something. They are engaged when hearing the story because they see pictures in color, not dull black and white.”

Funded Sep 20, 2022We have been using the new materials during our small group instruction. The students were all hands-on when working with the Positional Words Resource Box. We made learning about positional words so fun that students were excited to participate whenever we pulled out the materials. The best part was when we heard one student use his vocabulary outside the classroom to describe where his peer was hiding. He pointed and said, "A is behind the tree."
The picture cards have been a success because we can accommodate each student. Some students use them to match, while others use them to learn new words. The Picture Words Bingo has been a hit during rainy days when students cannot go outside. They have a blast helping name the pictures and collecting Goldfish crackers every time they win.
We will continue to use the materials to extend their interest in learning, and we hope that by the end of the year, one of the students will run the BINGO game by naming all the picture cards he pulls out. Thank you once again for making learning fun for our students.”

Funded Apr 6, 2022We would like to share that since receiving our Gonge Rock Around, our students that have a hard time sitting for long periods can now calm their bodies a little more after using the Rock Around. We like to use it before sitting down to do a non-preferred learning activity to help them get focused and regulated. They did not know what it was the first time they saw it. Once they got to try it, they loved it. Some students tend to seek more sensory input than others, but with new students joining our classroom, we will continue to make great use of it.
Another popular item was the feelings stamps. The students enjoy choosing how they feel when they join us in the morning using the stamps. What is great about it is that we get to talk about why they may feel happy or sad. Since they have limited to no language, we get to support them by describing what their feelings are doing to their bodies and model strategies to feel better.
Thank you for being a part of our school community and supporting future generations.”

Funded Oct 12, 2019Once again, thank you for your donations. The students are enjoying the light table, and it has been a great success. We used the table with the manipulatives to practice letter recognition, one of many activities. During one of the small group activities, the adult would name the letter and show them a visual of the letter, and they had to find it. On another occasion, they had to match the letters to their name cards. To practice number sense, they had to match the numeral to the correct card. To recall shapes, they had to find the shapes and name them. So far, the light table has been a hit with all the students. During free-choice time, some students choose to work on the light table with the various manipulatives. The table has also helped the students engage with each other.”
