Students need to be able to read about many various topics in science and to design projects to develop their ideas. Since we do not have textbooks or computers in our classroom, information needs to be printed out for them to be able to read and visually see what is being taught. Students in my classroom need to be able to read about science just not hear about science. Visually seeing science vocabulary in context is an important part of learning. They need to learn how to read and following written directions for them to perform experiments and these need to be printed out. They also need to be able to draw their solutions to support their hypothesis during experiments. The lack of paper to print information limits their ability to learn through reading and by using pictures, images, and spatial understanding.
