Sensory Space Needed For Students With Autism

Funded Oct 19, 2019

The impact that the sensory room has had on my young students has been incredible! My TK and Kinder students with autism in particular have benefited greatly from having this space. When they were first introduced to the room, their eyes were wide and faces full of excitement. From cocooning themselves in the swing, jumping on the trampoline, building with legos, laying in the hug boat, they utilize this space for breaks on days that they are in need of more sensory input, and also ask to go there for reward time after finishing work.

Besides my students who are benefitting from all that is in the sensory room, the school counselor has also been able to utilize this room to benefit other students school-wide as a positive break space. We are now in a position to better meet the needs of our students in order for them to be successful in the general education classroom setting.

My students and I can't thank you enough for your support of this project!”

With gratitude,

Ms. Ulanet
