    Funded May 6, 2020

Thanks so much for thinking of our students and Teachers! It is more essential than ever to support them. We look forward to returning to school and continuing to work with our students who truly miss their teachers and look forward to returning. Our students will be excited to try their new learning tools.”

  • Teaching "En Español" With the Right Resources!

    Funded Oct 17, 2019

Once again thank you for donating to our project. Teachers were thrilled to receive their individual copies of the Reading and Writing Strategies book in Spanish. They loved the book in English and having the Strategies and information accessible in Spanish has made their teaching more clearer and fluid in Spanish.

Some of our teachers have used the book to create anchor charts that are kid friendly and based on their current units of study in non-fiction. Another teacher has used reading book to teach patterns as a reading strategy in her kindergarten classroom.

Some of the charts have been created to help student identify details and topics in their nonfiction reading and to understand the parts of a NF book. This book is also supporting students and helping them speak about themselves as readers in Spanish.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Villalona

We'd like to supplement our literacy centers with language rich games and activities that are fun for students. During literacy center time in Chinese, they will have opportunities to practice forming and recognizing characters. For example, they can use the Primary Concepts Letter concepts to help tactile letters with the formation of Chinese characters. Some of the games and activities can help bring Chinese characters to life. Students will be able to manipulate and play with blocks and pictographs that will help them build their vocabulary. These skills will help students build their phonics, reading and writing skills in Chinese. Our kindergarten students will benefit from hands on activities to help support the learning and practice of Chinese while also helping them in the development of their fine motor skills.
