Learning English Through Read Alouds
Funded Feb 14, 2025My heart is so full on this Valentine’s Day and it is mostly because you have shown so much love to my students and their education!
I honestly and truly cannot say thank you enough to express my gratitude. Please know that your donation is helping so many sweet, kind, and deserving kids. I can’t wait to see their faces when I tell them a handful of people who don’t even know how amazing they are chose to give us new books to read together.
I hope the rest of your Valentine’s Day is filled with so much love and happiness. And maybe a little reading!
Thank you again!”

The Clean Hands Club
Funded Oct 28, 2024Thank you so much for such a generous donation to our classroom! The students were SO EXCITED to see so many boxes of tissues! One even screamed out, "Now we don't need your mom's tissues!"
It is such a weight lifted off my shoulders knowing I don't need to diligently police the tissue and hand sanitizer station. I also love and appreciate the fact that they don't need to leave the classroom to go to the bathroom to get wet paper towels, we can just pass out cleaning wipes for extra sticky projects.
I truly appreciate you funding this project. It's the little things in the classroom that keep it running smoothly, and you provided us just that!
I hope you have a wonderful holiday season. We are extra grateful this year!”

Relax, Max! Gratitude Journals and Aromatherapy
Funded Jun 13, 2024What an amazing summer school program we gave these students! I wasn't sure what to expect as far as engagement with such a different vision, but the students LOVED our time together!
Every morning students would try to be the first one there to help decide what scent we would diffuse that day. We have a lot of lavender and peppermint fans! We even used the essential oils to add a layer of aromatherapy to our homemade playdough for extra sensory fun.
I don't think the students even realized they were completing academic tasks like reflecting and writing in the journals because they were so excited about having their own little personalized notebook. It didn't look like the composition notebooks they HAVE to write in during the school year, this was a cool, 'normal' journal haha! Add some big stickers?! Forget about it! We practiced not only writing our thoughts and feelings, but also drawing them. Just getting our feelings out in a private way, through any means.
I can't thank you enough for helping me provide such an enriching summer program that was so different from what they expected.
Thank you again!”

Tell Me Something Good
Funded Jun 13, 2024Wow! What a difference I have seen in student writing in just a few short weeks! The students absolutely love the sequencing cards. Having to look at clues in each picture to find the right order has become a game for them. They love becoming story detectives!
What I didn't anticipate was the discussions students would engage in while sequencing the pictures. It has been really amazing listening to students agree and disagree, teach each other new vocabulary, and ultimately work together to write the story that goes with these pictures.
Having a different sets allows for students to get a new mystery to solve each time. I cannot wait to pull out different stories to correspond with holidays and different thematic units.
I can't thank you enough for helping our sequencing writing feel so authentic and fun! We love these materials and look forward to discovering new stories to tell and write!”

I Spy With My Blue Eyes...
Funded Apr 13, 2024I cannot thank you enough for your help in providing my students with such fun resources! Right when I put them on my bookshelf, students noticed and questioned. They were so excited to look through the pages, and even more excited when I showed them how to use the books!
My students are learning English, so many use a word-to-word dictionary to look up what they need to search for. This is great practice for them in using not one, but TWO!, books independently. The busy pictures also allow students to find items they know in their native language and then find the English word in the dictionary.
Thank you again for your generosity! You are helping such a special group of students develop a rich English vocabulary.”

Ms. Worldwide Classroom Library
Funded Feb 25, 2024I cannot thank you enough for providing books for my students. They were SO EXCITED to see books in their native languages! Every day I have students asking me to borrow books to read in the classroom, at recess, and at home with their families.
This global library we have started together will be a little piece of home away from home for so many students for years to come. I know they will all feel a comforting hug knowing they have a fun book available to read during independent reading time.
Thank you again for your generous donation and for helping me help my students.”

Cooking Up Some Fun
Funded Oct 9, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donation of kitchen essentials! The students and I have used everything from mixing bowls to measuring cups, hand mixers to oven mitts. We have explored math concepts while reading through recipes and measuring fractions of cups and teaspoons. We also explored cuisines across the globe and dishes that tell family stories. Fan favorites were Christmas morning sticky buns, Mexican enchiladas, and classic chocolate chip cookies.
The students were absolutely jazzed to see all of the supplies! Most had never or were not allowed to use knives or hand mixers at home, so this was their first taste of a real kitchen! Their favorite things were the aprons and oven mitts. Lots of rock, paper, scissors games were played to determine which students would take the dishes out of the oven!
With our next session of Cooking with Miss Emily approaching, I can't wait to see the excitement in 20 new faces! Thank you again for making the magic of cooking happen at the McAuliffe School.”
