Love Our LEGOS!
Funded Oct 12, 2019My class wanted to thank you all for the generous donations that made it possible for us to fund our Love Our Legos project! It will probably not come as a surprise that my students were overjoyed to open our package to revel Legos and K'nex sets. My students are such a diverse group but the one thing they all have in common is their love of creative hands-on projects.
Every week the class is given choice time where they can choose a quiet activity. The Legos and K'nex have become an integral part of our week and a motivator for the students to show their positive behaviors.
When a student becomes overwhelmed or frustrated and no longer wants to complete an assignment, I have been able to put this wonderful project into use. The students know if they are able to complete an assignment to a certain point they will be able to take a break and have some build time. This quiet time really allows them to relax and gives them a chance to use their hands and imaginations.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Becker
Wobble Works for Reading
Funded Oct 4, 2019My entire classroom and I want to send a message of gratitude and thanks for all the donations that made our Wobble Works for Reading project possible. When the class saw the boxes delivered to our class they were so excited!
The wobble stools have become a popular sitting spot and have allowed the students to remain more focused on our classwork. Each week the stools and wobble cushions are rotated among the students to make sure everyone gets a turn using them. The cushions have been especially helpful when we go on the carpet for our class read alouds and discussions.
The headphones have been amazing as well! My class is a group of students that are struggling readers so headphones are critical for them to have access to literacy software programs. They are now able to practice their reading skills and even are able to select books on the computer to be read to them during our ELA rotation time. We can't thank you enough and will continue to grow and learn!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Becker
