Flexible seating allows students to access learning in a positive and effective way. Students are more engaged in learning with the help of flexible seating. Flexible seating allows students the freedom to choose the best learning situation for them at the time for the task at hand. Not only does research support classrooms using flexible seating options, I have noticed that flexible seating is being used not only in many classrooms but in corporations and offices throughout the United States. Flexible seating focuses the mind, builds body strength, and engages students. As my students get older, they are expected to be responsible for their choices in education. Having the choice to use flexible seating allows them to exercise that responsibility. It also allows them to be advocates for their learning needs. Students can choose seating options that work best for them and allows them to focus and engage in lessons. Currently, students have minimal flexible seating options. They are able to use floor pillows, lap desks, two yoga balls, and two wobble chairs. This allows access to flexible seating to some of my students but not all. The products I have chosen will provide my students with additional seating options that will benefit and increase their academic success. The wobble stools and yoga balls will help students build core strength and allow some movement that is not distracting but allows some students to get the wiggles out and focus on lessons. The yoga mats will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. The noise canceling headphones will be accessible to students who need to block out the sounds of the busy classroom while they work. I have seen how flexible seating can positively affect my students academics and behavior and hope that the additional options will help increase student success!
