I am a librarian at 2 schools. I have 3 objectives I would like to accomplish with your help: To give students hands-on activities that connect them to the library curriculum; to give students a variety of materials that can show their learning; to give them opportunities and materials to discover new things. When given a box with a lock, who doesn't have a curious mind, itching to open and find out what is inside? Many library skills will be put to work as students collaborate to answer 4 questions that unlock a box. The prizes planned for inside the box can be used over and over again as they will be individual puzzles for each team member to play with and solve. Students make houses that don't fall down after we "huff and puff and try to blow the house in"! I want students to make meaning from our reading by engaging in project work and learning from each other. Allowing students the choice to build/make/draw to show understanding will be rewarding for both student and teacher! I would like to have a variety of materials for students to choose from to open the possibilities and experiences.
