Research in the use of light in schools has shown that cool-white fluorescent bulbs, (which are used in virtually all classrooms) cause: bodily stress, anxiety, hyper-activity, attention problems and other distress leading to poor learning performance. I also have a student with epilepsy that has seizures. Research shows that some seizures can be triggered from exposure to certain visual stimuli, predominantly related to light. Classrooms need good lighting in order to facilitate learning. From a practical standpoint, there needs to be enough of and the right kind of light to perform the functions of a classroom. Finally, lighting has been shown to improve mood and increase productivity in the workplace. Please help me fund this project by donating to buy light covers to go over my classroom light fixtures. Your contribution is greatly appreciated!
