A yearly subscription for Tales2go will allow a very helpful resource for the students to use when covering reading assignments for class. The library contains many books that we can listen to as a class. The students can follow along as they practice and improve their note-taking skills. Another invaluable benefit is that the students can remain motivated when covering long assignments, as opposed to quitting because of comprehension struggles. In turn, they can continue to learn with the class and gain confidence while participating in insightful class activities. Along with numerous other benefits, keeping the students engaged and actively involved is a goal many of the students in the Resource room are working toward. In a perfect world, this improved involvement would lead to students finding books that meet their personal interest to listen to.
Providing resources to reduce student hurdles and limit the monotony of virtual online classrooms is such a huge endeavor for every teacher with a continuously growing task list. The options with Tales2go can provide for the students to maintain and improve engagement assists us with breaking through the unseen walls that virtual instruction has built. These audio books can help relieve some of the students' anxiety to complete a task and help put them on track to not only survive this pandemic driven education, but THRIVE! Although we have some access to the traditional texts, the audio versions could improve student work while ensuring each student can follow along in an environment they feel comfortable in.
