If my students are able to receive books that are relevant to our unit, they will be able to engage with me during read alouds. Having these books will allow them to spend less time on screen and more time with their families. They will be able to enhance their love for reading by beginning a home library with some of their favorite read alouds from the classroom. This home school connection will give them a small sense of normalcy. They will also be able to work on print concepts while reading with family or while on a FaceTime read aloud with me.
