Our awesome middle school students are excited to play the tuba, but it honestly weighs almost as much as they do! (Our tubas weigh about 40 lbs., and the students weigh about 85 lbs.) First we carry the tuba across the room to our chair. Then we balance the tuba on a neighboring chair, or on our laps, or sometimes even lay it down sideways, just to ensure that we don't drop or damage it during class. Then, we have to lift and carry it across the room (again!) to place it safely in its case each day. These wheeled tuba stands will enable our amazing students to safely support and play the tuba in class daily. We will be able to concentrate on playing, while the stand does all of the heavy lifting. Please contribute to this worthy project.
