The students in my fourth-grade class like to create and build. Each science unit, math unit, and authors study unit has connections to each other. We are a Title one school with various learning styles. The outdated foss kits are not enough for the students to learn from or for the 21st century. Having flexible seating is wonderful for my students to collaborate daily. Especially when we are building structures.
Our author study unit is when the students have to build a bridge or bridges out of the materials that are recycled from other projects or classes. Our energy unit, most of the pieces do not work in the foss kits so again it is recycled materials for other projects or places. Our measurement unit in math, usually there are not enough pieces for students to measure.
Every year my students have had one project that was spread out for two semesters. I want my students to display they imaginations on having projects each semester throughout the school year. Adding up to four projects per group.
My science notebooks have been recycled for prior years if students have used all of their pages. I would love for each one of my students to have something new to write on. My students indulge in any new materials they receive. We would like to thank anyone that donates in advance.
