  • Functional Safe Space Classroom for Growing Learners

    Funded Feb 7, 2022

This project was life changing for my students! They loved being a part of making their classroom a calm, beautiful place to be. The amazing work I saw on our small group table was inspiring! Also, the kids loved the ambient lighting in our classroom. I had students tell me often how much calmer they felt in our classroom, which was the ultimate goal! This last few years, my students went through a lot as our world was changing, and it meant to much to be able to give them a safe happy space to learn and care for each other!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gerbrandt

  • Safe Space Classroom in Our New Normal

    Funded Jan 26, 2022

My students are loving our materials! It has been amazing seeing them learn and grow in a safe space. More than ever, it has become apparent how important this is!

My students have worked together to decorate the class and create safe spaces for each other. We have made cool down areas as well as cool down bags so they can find a comfortable place to regulate themselves.

This has been amazing for working on my students mental health and social emotional skills. I am forever grateful for the donations to my classroom for my students. This will make a lasting impact for years to come.”

    With gratitude,

  • SEL and STEM into learning!!

    Funded Oct 9, 2019

Thank you so much for providing these materials for my students! Our class has grown tremendously by having access to these materials. These materials are used in the classroom as supplements tp enrich their learning in the STEM areas. It also has been used to create a space for self regulation and management within our classroom. Research shows that these skills are so important in the adults that my students will grow into.

My students were so excited when we received these materials! They are learning so much about their emotions and how to regulate. The dragon books have been astounding for creating a common SEL language in our classroom. This has been so beneficial for the students. I am so beyond grateful for the movement it has made in our classroom. They will, and myself, be forever changed.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gerbrandt

Engagement is a key factor in effective learning in the classroom! It is proven that students are much more engaged in a holistic, interdisciplinary classroom. With these materials, my students will have the opportunity to experience STEM in the classroom to enrich their learning experience and further their love for learning! They will also have opportunities for self management of emotions and their own mental health. In today's world, STEM and SEL are so important for future success! My students will use these SEL materials (books and flexible seating) to self regulate in the classroom. Being able to choose a seating option that will better help them learn is very important. Also, having quality literature about mental health will help my students identify and regulate their emotions. The STEM materials (math games, building materials) will be incorporated in this area for students to be able to focus their energy and emotions into things that are positive all while growing their brain by solving engineering and math problems that will give them an edge in society in the long run.
