  • TPT Funds for OT

    Funded Sep 5, 2020

Thank you for giving my students access to worksheets that will meet their individual IEP goals and classroom objectives. I was able to purchase a variety of tools for my students including letter formation, Cvc word practice, typing program support, parent information and education, as well as number and letter practice. My students are primarily in prekindergarten and kindergarten, so these worksheets are perfect for the age ranges and meet them where they are in their learning. Thank you again for your help.”

    With gratitude,

  • Help Me Reach My Students With Autism Through Professional Development!

    Funded Oct 17, 2019

Thank you so much for providing the opportunity for me to learn more about my students and their learning styles. I was able to complete the course at home and immediately use this knowledge in the classroom.

My favorite take home piece was learning a new way to think through a targeted behavior. In my OT training, we are taught to look at the entire person, and Megan's methods of behavior assessment go beyond the antecedent/causation model to look at other factors that may be influencing our students and immediately give specific interventions to try.

My next favorite tangible piece that came out of this training was the idea of creating a space with clear instructions built in to the activity, as well as using a disappearing finish to communicate when an activity is complete. Visual schedules were also detailed but not in the traditional way - first we need to find what level of learner the student is at and build on their learning style instead of assuming that they are at a picture level.

I am so thankful that I was given this opportunity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bounds Ot

This online course will help me professionally in my work with students with autism in Lake County, Florida by enhancing my understanding of learning styles, communication, and behavior with this population. My goal is to then share this knowledge with teachers and staff who work with these students daily to provide understanding of why behaviors may be occurring in the classroom and practical strategies for attaining individual goals. Although I have a great deal of knowledge in this area, this course provides current treatment methods and evidence based practice that will further my work with all students and particularly students on the autism spectrum.
