These activities will help at least 55 students this year alone to build their language, communication, and social skills. Since I am just starting as a speech language specialist, I am in need of tools that I can use with students who have a variety of needs. I can support language development in preschoolers through activities such as matching objects to pictures, describing objects or pictures, and working on categorization with objects. The objects can be used in conjunction with the vocabulary cards or can be used as a stand alone activity. I can develop an interest in reading, increase overall engagement with text, and develop language skills such as prepositions and describing with the story puppets and boards. I will also be able to work alongside the classroom teachers to read stories that are being read in class.
