I teach 8th grade English at a middle school in a rural/suburban town in northern Connecticut. I have a passion for writing and love sharing that passion with my students. During my first few years at this school, I started a creative writing club where students could come and share their writing with me. Over time, the club evolved to include submissions to a state writing contest, and a poetry recitation contest. The next step I'd like to take is the publication of a literary magazine! I want students to know that their writing is important and celebrated. However, my school does not have the materials necessary to publish a magazine of this size. The cost would be too great to publish elsewhere (such as Staples or Kinko's). I would publish each magazine by hand using the materials I am requesting. Students should be able to see their hard work on display!
