  • Jump, Stamp, and Spell!

    Funded Feb 10, 2022

Thank you for contributing to my classroom!! Our phonics lessons have become so much more engaging due to all of the things you sent us. The alphabet carpet squares have been so much fun. Our curriculum teacher's guide suggests using paper letters on the floor, but I have found they rip too easily. Laminating them makes them too slippery. By using the alphabet carpet squares, the students are able to run back and forth to find letters without slipping. They are also able to jump from one letter to the next without the letters sliding. This tool has added a level of physicality to our lessons that was missing.

A goal of a special education classroom is for students to become more independent. The alphabet rubber stamps and the alphabet dough stampers give that independence to my students. The students love these center activities!! They understand the expectation and know how to use the stamps/stampers. They actually sit up straighter in their seats when I get them out. They really enjoy them!!

The simple words builder box/set of drawers has become a "go-to" ELA game for my kids. I think it's the novelty of the set of drawers, and it's bright yellow on the shelf. One of my students really loves it and gives the drawers out to the others in his group. They work on the cards by themselves which I love. It's CVC words, so it's a great beginner activity to start establishing independence.

Thank you again for helping fill my room with activities my students enjoy. When they're happy, I'm happy.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Avon

I am overwhelmed by your generosity! My students are going to be THRILLED to get the Magna Tiles and the Duplo blocks. Thank you for making this strange uncertain time in the classroom just a little bit more fun for my kids. You are the best!

    Stay safe. Be well.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Avon

Magna-Tiles offer students a chance to learn while they're having fun, and they can be enjoyed by all three grade levels in my class. They can recognize and name shapes, and then build three-dimensional versions. Math concepts, such as patterns, sorting, and symmetry can be explored by my kindergartners. All of my students love to build! The magnetic edges of Magna Tiles allow them to build taller more intricate structures that are not possible with standard blocks. Construction projects are lessons in persistence, concentration, problem-solving, and creativity. Hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills help my students work towards their OT goals. Magna Tiles have the versatility and universal appeal to be used within a lesson as well as during break times. My students earn breaks throughout the day. Magna Tiles will definitely be requested as a break activity! As I said, my students love to build and over the years, I have accrued a collection of Legos. They are loved by all ages, but my Kindergarteners struggle with them. This is my first year with Kindergarten students, and their motor skills are not as developed as they could be. This is where Duplo blocks save the day! They have the look and feel of the Legos the older students play with but the chunkier size my kindergarteners can manage. Everyone gets to build and have fun!
