Jump, Stamp, and Spell!
Funded Feb 10, 2022Thank you for contributing to my classroom!! Our phonics lessons have become so much more engaging due to all of the things you sent us. The alphabet carpet squares have been so much fun. Our curriculum teacher's guide suggests using paper letters on the floor, but I have found they rip too easily. Laminating them makes them too slippery. By using the alphabet carpet squares, the students are able to run back and forth to find letters without slipping. They are also able to jump from one letter to the next without the letters sliding. This tool has added a level of physicality to our lessons that was missing.
A goal of a special education classroom is for students to become more independent. The alphabet rubber stamps and the alphabet dough stampers give that independence to my students. The students love these center activities!! They understand the expectation and know how to use the stamps/stampers. They actually sit up straighter in their seats when I get them out. They really enjoy them!!
The simple words builder box/set of drawers has become a "go-to" ELA game for my kids. I think it's the novelty of the set of drawers, and it's bright yellow on the shelf. One of my students really loves it and gives the drawers out to the others in his group. They work on the cards by themselves which I love. It's CVC words, so it's a great beginner activity to start establishing independence.
Thank you again for helping fill my room with activities my students enjoy. When they're happy, I'm happy.”
With gratitude,
