  • Copy Paper

    Funded Jan 29, 2020

Thank you so much for helping me get this project fully funded in less than 24 hours! I can't wait to start making guided notes packets for my students and be able to help my students achieve their best in math! Your donation goes a long way to help with understanding and retention.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Greene

  • Document Camera for Math

    Funded Oct 3, 2019

Recently, my classroom received a Document Camera from your generous donations. This has helped my classroom tremendously. When teaching math, it was almost impossible to demonstrate visual models for students. We have limited resources, so getting more magnetic manipulatives was not possible. The document camera allows students to see my models and see how they relate to the problems. I am able to demonstrate math directly in their workbook, which helps with tracking issues students may have.

Students especially like that I can show off their work to students. Instead of students doing work in their workbook and then writing on the board, students can bring their notebook with completed work under the camera to show the whole class.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Greene

This classroom project was brought to life by Verizon and 4 other donors.
Document cameras are an essential part of teaching mathematics. Students need to be able to see concrete representations when adding/subtracting/multiplying dividing integers, and when solving algebraic equations. These concepts are very abstract, and my students need to be able to "SEE" the problem. A document camera helps me to better model with manipulatives. I can show students how various problems work out and the wonderful question of "How does that even work?" can be answered. Another benefit of the document camera is that it allows students to share their work easily with the class without wasting time writing problems they've already written and solved.
