  • You Know the Drill: Always Measure Twice & Cut Once

    Funded Dec 4, 2024

Thank you so much for supporting my students to reach new heights in their vocational abilities! Class X07 is so grateful to be a part of our ever growing Donors Choose community. Your generosity in this season of giving is going to help my students become more independent and creative as well as increase their opportunities to take initiative and problem solve in hands on projects.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nicole

  • X07 - Keeping It Safe and Sound

    Funded Sep 19, 2024

This project made it possible for my students to experience the real-world responsibility of being prepared and safe for work in an Adapted Makerspace. Being able to tap into their creative outlet in a safe and productive manner has supported positive behaviors, has promoted student driven outcomes for project based learning, and has given students responsibility for each other by making sure their classmates are safe when working. We thank you so much for all of the items you have helped us to get for a safe and positive workspace.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nicole

  • Creating a Sensory Corner for Students w/Disabilities

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

Thank you so much for helping me to create an amazing sensory area for my students. The whole class is very excited and we can’t wait for our items to arrive. It would not be possible without all of your care and support. I will definitely send pictures in the thank you package so you can see how happy the kiddos are.”

  • Skoogy, Skoogy Do! Students Accessing Music & Sound

    Funded Dec 23, 2020

Thanks to you my students will have the ability to create music through a brand new sensory experience. Music should be accessible to all students and now it can be at our school site. I can’t wait for them to use their Skoogs as classroom instruments and to play music together.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nicole

  • The Recorder Project: Students Reading & Playing Music

    Funded Nov 7, 2019

Thanks to these recorders and stands you all so wonderfully helped us to get for our students, we are opening up a whole new world of creative expression through instruments. The recorders are helping my students to channel their energy into something positive and when they play music they get so happy and full of joy. Students that have a more difficult time with gross and fine motor skills are practicing covering holes to avoid squeaks and when they can do it they feel so proud and they totally deserve all of these great feelings. We can't thank you enough for your donations and this gift. As long as there are people out there who care enough about students having the opportunity to be creative through music, the world will be a great place for students to learn.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nicole

  • Like Music to the Ears of Youngsters

    Funded Jan 21, 2020

Thank you so much for donating to this project and sharing my projects on social media. Spreading the word is spreading the love. I can't wait to carry out this project and give my students the opportunity to have a larger sense of music appreciation through different genres. Many of my students love listening to music, but this will help me to know which music they like best and also provide a relaxing chill out station in the music room when needed.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Nicole

  • Shining a Spotlight on Our Stars!

    Funded Dec 31, 2019

Thank You so much for Shining a Light on our students! We will send out pictures with our new official stage crew soon and spotlight some of our students on stage! This wouldn’t be possible without your kindness and generosity. Our school wide stage performances will continue to grow and our students lives are a little brighter each day.”

This project is an example of how important it is to have music as a tool for expression in Special Needs schools. I have assessed all of my students with the bare bones of all of the tools that were available. When they saw me play on my recorder they all wanted to try. Thats what made me decide this project would be so great for them to realize their music capabilities. This year my students will Rock out on the Recorder! Our students are tuned into music and with everything I teach them they always ask for more. Our higher level students are learning to read and write music and are on the verge of being great performers. Our non-verbal students are finding their voice in music through use of instruments and technology. Our mid level students are learning about syncopated rhythms and how to be a part of the music by using percussion instruments. Our students with multiple disabilities are finding music as a way to express their feelings and are interacting more with their peers through group activities. While this is a large project it is imperative that support my students by any means necessary and let them realize their talent. My students have the ability to do so many things and I want them to shine. This project is a great way to help them start off on a lifelong journey though music education.
