This listening center will add to our existing classroom library and literacy resources. It will benefit my students by giving them another way to engage with literature, even for those who are preliterate. All of my students love to be read aloud to regardless of their skill level. We are learning how to take care of books and learning to love literature. Being a first year teacher, I am working on building a literacy program from the ground up in order to provide my students with a quality daily 5 literacy routine. We have already learned to read to self and read with a partner and having a listening center would be the perfect addition to our library. I have chosen a variety of books that I believe will suit my students interests and give them plenty of age appropriate options.
