The students I serve have not had music or theater as an elective in their time here. I have seen the potential in many students to create and express themselves through this art form when they haven't had the means previously. Music and drama will also help them flourish in other academic subjects such as life skills, reading, listening, and overall social skills. These materials will help in so many different ways. The microphones will encourage speech. The listening center will build listening and comprehension skills. The rubber bands will help with movement. The keyboards will give my students another musical outlet for expression.
