Multi sensory teaching is one of the most important aspects of instruction for students with dyslexia and dysgraphia. Both dyslexia and dysgraphia make it difficult for my students to convert phonemes (sounds) into graphemes (letters in written form). These language disorders impact literacy skills, which can have a direct effect on a student's self-esteem and lack of confidence. These materials would make a difference in my students' learning by supporting their need for visual, auditory, and kinesthetic-tactile stimulation. The carefully selected materials would allow my students, both face-to-face and virtual, to actively engage with their reading and writing instruction. Manipulatives such as word building tiles, magnetic letters, textured tracing cards allow students to take a hands-on approach to their learning. They are then able to transfer their reading skills into writing skills by using their new pencil grips, magic writing boards, and grid paper. We will utilize the document camera to engage our virtual learners and make our lessons all inclusive. Thank you for considering our project and supporting dyslexia awareness.
