Better With the Basics
Funded Aug 9, 2021Thank you so much for your contribution to my classroom. Your support means more to me and my students than I can even express. By donating to my classroom and this project, I was able to differentiate materials for my students. This helped my students go up multiple grade levels, which is huge! With your help, we did that!
The Lysol wipes and tissues were integral especially after covid. Many students were very anxious having a student from a previous period sit in their seat, so having the Lysol wipes available eased their anxiety.
Thank you again for your contribution.”

Funded May 8, 2020Thank you for your generous contribution to my classroom. The inspiration for this project came from my 4th grade teacher. She once had a rocking chair donated to our classroom and each day a name was pulled out of a jar and if your name was called, you were able to sit in the rocking chair that day instead of your assigned seat. I always loved school, but I loved even more if my name was called to sit in the rocking chair. There was nothing more relaxing than reading my book during independent reading time and rocking back and forth. I wanted to give that to my students.
Unfortunately, due to covid, I do not have one single classroom to call my own. Since I am in a middle school, teachers rotate and I do not teach in my "home base." Due to covid restrictions and guidelines set forth by the Department of Education, I cannot set up my rocking chair just yet. It is tucked away safely in the box. I know when covid goes away, I'll be able to have students fill that seat, and they too will be able to have that same great feeling of rocking back and forth relaxing while reading a good book.
Thank you for your donation toward my classroom.”

Funded Mar 13, 2020I cannot thank you enough for your generosity. With Covid-19 aside, my students face many hardships. Many struggle to find a warm meal while others are the caretaker for their younger siblings. Since my students are now spending 2 days in school learning and 3 days learning from home, it is especially important to me to ensure that my students are equipped with all of the supplies they need. It was a huge worry of mine that my student may not come to school because it is their time of the month and they don't have access to sanitary supplies. If this is the case, my students would have lost out on an entire weeks worth of instruction. Thanks to your generosity, I am able to supply my students with the sanitary supplies if they need it.
I did not display the sanitary napkins to the class because it is a sensitive object. Instead, if a student tells me that they have a female emergency, I will give them a bundle to get them through the cycle. I also have been able to give a few packages to my grade dean because if another teacher has a student who is having a feminine emergency, they normally send the student to the dean.
I originally had expected that this project would reach my classes but by giving a few packages to my dean allows girls in my grade to have access to these necessities. I am so grateful and appreciative to be able to do this for my students and it wouldn't be possible without your help. In such a stressful time, thank you for giving my students one less thing to worry about.”

Funded Dec 25, 2019Thank you for your generosity. My classroom environment has improved greatly since getting funded. My easel helps me to effectively model for my students. With the ink and copy paper I have been able to print student essays and print various resources to help scaffold material so my students can understand the standard we are teaching for the unit. The hand sanitizer has helped greatly, ever since the spread of the coronavirus. My students have told me they do not want to leave my room because they know they are safe there.
When I first told my students that my project titled Community Collaboration got funded, they were so excited and they were clapping. One thing that we do a lot in my classroom is group work. As shown in the pictures, we have been using the CSR (Collaborative Strategic reading) strategy to close read nonfiction texts pertaining to the unit. Since I have access to a printer with ink and sanitation products, my students can effectively collaborate with their classmates. The CSR strategy is especially helpful for readers and it supports Sydney's in my ICT class. After analyzing the data and seeing the growth, I plan to use the CSR strategy to further support struggling readers. Thank you for giving my students this opportunity.”
