  • A Diverse Library Collection

    Funded Aug 3, 2023

Thank you again for your contributions to our classroom library. Students have loved having a variety of titles that match their interests, backgrounds, and abilities. We have loved adding more reading time to our day, even taking it outdoors from time to time, recognizing that reading can be enjoyed everywhere! Now, more than ever before, my students are eager to begin reading time and love book shopping through our classroom library to find their next read. We have shared our love for the books we read with one another on a weekly basis by recommending titles to one another and getting others interested in the books we love.

We are all so grateful for your donations.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kattera

  • Cozy Calming Couch

    Funded Dec 28, 2022

Thank you once again for your generous contribution to our classroom. This addition to our reading space has brought so much joy to my students! They have a cozy place to enjoy their reading, and we have also had meaningful conversations about sharing and taking turns, taking care of our classroom resources, and expressing gratitude for the kindness shown to us by strangers. Who knew a piece of furniture would provide such opportunities?

We greatly appreciate this gift. It has quickly turned into a favorite space in our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kattera

  • Wobbly Seats for Wiggly Bodies

    Funded Feb 2, 2022

Thank you again for your kindness and generosity. My students have absolutely loved their new flexible seating options and we find that it has truly supported their need to wiggle in order to better focus and learn! My students have shown respect toward their new seating options and are gracious in ensuring everyone gets a chance to use them. I am proud and impressed with how well they have cared for this gift.

Again, our sincerest appreciation to you from a room filled with happy, wiggly fourth-graders!”

  • Cozy Carpet to Build Community

    Funded Sep 5, 2021

Once again, my class and I want to give you our most sincere thank you for your generous contribution to our classroom community. Our new carpet has been an invaluable addition to our learning space.

The day students first saw our new carpet, so many ran right onto it and climbed on with what can only be described as awe. Several lay right on top of it and began creating "Carpet Angels" or just ran their fingers through the carpet. It was love at first sight!

Since then, we have used our carpet every day. We gather on the carpet each morning to set ourselves up for a successful day of learning, enjoy our daily read aloud here, discover our own stories during our independent reading time while lying on the carpet, and wrap up our day with a closing circle on the carpet. It has truly become our community space.

This carpet may seem like a simple piece of furniture, but for me and my students, it is so much more. Thank you again for your support and generosity.”

  • Flexible Seating for Flexible Learning

    Funded May 9, 2021

We can hardly describe the impact these flexible seating options have had in the classroom! Students have loved having some choice about what tools they can use to be successful and have worked hard to use these seating options to stay focused and keep learning! Additionally, they look amazing in the classroom and contribute to the bright and inviting aesthetic of the classroom.

When I have asked students what helps them be successful, I am constantly told that it is the ability to move and think in a space that works for them. Even at young ages, students know that they may not learn best sitting in a chair at a desk. Using lounge chairs or wobble seats has provided the flexibility they need.

Please know that you have made a substantial impact on so many.”

  • STEM Stations for Success!

    Funded Jul 13, 2021

My students and I are forever grateful for your generous donation to our classroom. We have loved adding stem bins to our morning routine and it has provided a calm yet focused activity to help us all get started on our day. Every morning, as students enter my classroom, they immediately ask for stem bins. They love the variety and choose different stations each day. I've challenged them to build structures from around the world or simply from their imagination and they have yet to disappoint! I have shared that it is because of the kindness of strangers that we are able to play, discover, and learn using these stem stations and they have been truly grateful. Please know that you have made such a strong impact on me and my class!”

  • Making Distance Learning Possible

    Funded Sep 3, 2020

It's with sincere gratitude that I write this. My students and I have enjoyed these supplies throughout our distance learning journey, and now that we are in a concurrent learning model, we are using these resources even more. The students have enjoyed the wide range of books supplied for our class read alouds and their independent reading time and I have been able to get a variety of supplies to my students still learning from home thanks to your generosity. My students and I will always be thankful for your kindness and have taken advantage of the opportunity to learn to spread kindness to others through similar acts of kindness. So again, thank you for your generosity and kindness during our most challenging year.”

  • Eye-Catching Tools

    Funded Apr 10, 2020

It is with great sincerity that my students and I send this note of thanks for your generous donations. Because of your generosity, our classroom has become an even more welcoming place for students.

Although we have moved to distance learning, many of the materials purchased have been used in the classroom to create a warm and inviting environment, even from behind a computer screen. Additionally, many books were provided and have been a welcome addition to distance learning, as it provides a sense of normalcy. Students have enjoyed listening to read alouds, both from picture books and chapter books that have been newly added to our library.

Again, we thank you so much for your kind gesture. It is not only truly appreciated, but also a great addition to this fourth-grade classroom, supporting the learning needs of many students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kattera

  • Wanted: A Classroom Library Fit for 4th Graders!

    Funded Dec 3, 2019

Our sincerest thank you for supporting our classroom library. We all were so excited to explore the variety of new books that we received. My students and I opened the boxes together, reviewed the books with awe and immediately added them to student book boxes for reading. The books are truly loved and appreciated.

Each morning, we start our day with time for reading. Students find a comfy pillow or cushion, lie on the floor and dive into their books. Because of the high interest books that we now have immediate access to, my students have developed the ability to read, and enjoy reading, for long stretches of time. Often, it's a struggle to have to move on to our next tasks, as there is a clear love of reading. What a truly great gift to have given these boys and girls.

We are all so very grateful for your gift.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kattera

We spend 30-40 minutes a day on independent reading where my students get the chance to choose a book of their liking and dive in. They grab pillows, cushions, and stuffed animals and curl up under desks, on fluffy carpets, or in their chairs to disappear into their reading. The more options they have, the more chances they have of finding books that meet their needs and interests, helping build a classroom of lifelong readers. Even my reluctant readers are desperately searching for options that will help them find their just-right reading journey and turn them from reluctant to engaged readers.
