It's amazing to see how students are re-energized during class when we use colored pencils during the lesson. Coloring the concept allows them to take a mental break yet still be engaged with the information they just learned. My goal is for my students to be scientifically artistic learners. A process whereby they'll learn science while incorporating art. Before going into the laboratory, art supplies will be used to allow students to visualize the presented concept as a 2-D or 3-D model. This will free up cognitive 'space' for students to understand the underlying chemistry or physics of our lab.
