A Safe Space to Read
Funded Nov 30, 2021Thanks a million for your donation to my class. The students were thrilled that they could sit in alternative seating instead of either wood or plastic chairs. They enjoyed their silent reading time, and their ability to move around the class in another space. They were also excited about lunch time. During lunch, they were able to sit at the table, place the security glass, and play UNO with some of their peers. The students had fun bonding and competing against each other. Because of the opportunity to play something fun, they were more eager to complete their assignments, so that they could extend their games a little longer.
Thanks a million for the support and helping to provide a safe and engaging space for my students to learn.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Williams

Funded Sep 19, 2019Thanks a million for your generous donation. My students use the tablets for remediation. They log into sites such as Mathplay or Mathgames, and they practice math concepts. They also log into VDOE sites such as practice items or Desmos and practice how to solve old SOL problems or use the scientific calculator found on Desmos. The new technology is really helping them become engaged and more willing to learn. Last but not least, the chair and file cabinet has helped me provide more security for my student's confidential information and support for long hours of grading papers. The kids and I are truly grateful and excited.
We are excited about the new products for our school is very old and most of the equipment and furniture even the calculators are old. When the students saw the tablets, they glowed. They were excited that we didn't have to wait on a computer cart to conduct a station or to use the calculator to solve a problem. They were also excited that each one could work at their own pace as long as they needed to and didn't have to share a computer.
All in all, these products donated from the goodness of Mrs Thatcher, Verizon, and Donor's Choose has really made a difference. Most of the students were already familiar with tablets and their features. In fact, they were showing me how to do things on them. Our school system doesn't have a lot of updated technology or furniture, so these items were truly a blessing. Words can't express our gratitude. Again we are truly grateful and we wish all of you a wonderful holiday season.”

Ms. Williams
