Cool Zone Helping Students Work Through Anxiety and Other Emotions
Funded Aug 14, 2024I want to thank you on behalf of all the staff members and students that work hard every day to be successful in the program I work in. Your donations have enabled the students to have access to fidgets and other coping skills/strategies (breathing exercise cards) and be able to remain in their classes and focus on their work. There was a basket delivered to all 5 of our classrooms as well as the counseling and administrators office. The students and staff were all very excited when they first saw the materials that were added in their calm corners. Many of the students have come to me having discussions about how they utilize a different thing for each room that they go to from the bands on the chairs to the breathing balls in my office to other fidgets in each room. Students have found the materials to be useful at times when they are feeling anxious or dysregulated in a variety of ways.
The teachers and staff report that students have appropriately asked and used the new materials in the clam corner and were able to remain in class and focus on their subjects. There have been a reduced amount of referrals with behaviors since the materials were handed out. The next steps is tracking the increases in academic success and utilization of the calm corners in order to show an increased ability to self regulate and utilize the variety of tools available to them.”
With gratitude,

Funded Jan 8, 2020Thank you for your generosity. The items we were able to purchase had a very positive impact to our program. Even through the tough times when we are now providing education to them remotely we are able to use some of these things. They are being used and have been used to help students find ways to recenter and refocus when they are dis-regulated or settle some anxiety.
The students and staff were extremely excited when the materials. One of the students immediately volunteered to help put the seats together. Many of the students kept stopping by my office to see all of the new cool things we were getting. Many of them were intrigued and wanted to try out the games and objects immediately.
Since we are remotely learning I was able to go into the school to get the materials to help enhance and incorporate them into our modified curriculum on social emotional learning. We will continue to build on and identify our positive coping skills, as well as improve our communication and social interactions. Thank you so much!”
With gratitude,
Mr. C
